Sport is an important part of life at Maitland Christian School. Across Primary and Secondary, students are encouraged to be active, try new sports, and develop confidence through regular physical activity. Our program offers a wide range of opportunities so that every student can participate at a level that suits them.

Our Approach
We reflect our broader values as a Christian school. Students are encouraged to compete with respect, show good sportsmanship, and represent the school well in both attitude and behaviour. Our Sport Coordinators regularly remind students of the importance of respect for teammates, opponents and officials, and of supporting one another in all situations.

Weekly Sport & Physical Activity
Weekly sport includes both on-site and off-site activities, giving students exposure to different sports and movement experiences. These sessions focus on participation, skill development and enjoyment, helping students build healthy habits and a positive attitude toward physical activity.

Representative Sport Opportunities
Representative sport plays a strong role at MCS, with students competing in regional, state and, where available, national competitions. Training is provided for Gala Day sporting events held throughout the year, with coaching led by teachers who have playing and or coaching experience.Students also participate in Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country Carnivals, with opportunities for individual progression to zone, regional and state levels.

Health, Wellbeing & Active Living
With growing awareness of health and wellbeing challenges in our community, MCS places importance on helping students understand the value of physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices. Sport provides a practical way for students to develop fitness, resilience and balance as part of their overall wellbeing.
Through sport, students learn teamwork, perseverance and responsibility. These experiences support personal growth and contribute to the development of confident, capable young people, both on and off the field.

As a member of the Christian Schools Sports Association (CSSA) and Combined Independent Schools, teams from Maitland Christian School are involved in zone and state-wide competitions, including netball, basketball, soccer, rugby league and futsal.
