Our school has a developed a strong tradition of attendance at the East Maitland dawn service on ANZAC day. This year, ANZAC day falls on Saturday 25th April, the end of the first week of Term 2.
This year, we have been invited to the following memorial services for ANZAC Day:
- East Maitland Dawn Service – our Secondary student leaders, Ms Bromhead and Mr Peet will represent the school at this event, and school community members are encouraged to join the March. Form-up time for this march is 5:15am around the corner from the East Maitland Memorial Centre in High Street, East Maitland and Step-off time is 5:20am. The Dawn Service will commence at 5.30am.
- East Maitland Morning Service – our Primary Captains and Mr Peet, as well as an Arise student with Mr Maslen, will represent our schools at this event, with school community members also encouraged to join the March. Form-up time is 8:30am around the corner from the East Maitland Memorial Centre in High Street, East Maitland and Step-off time is 9:15am. The Morning Service will commence at 9.30am.
We would like to invite all students and their families to join us in commemorating this significant event. Students attending are asked to wear full winter school uniform to these events.
We will be holding a whole school ANZAC Day Commemoration Service at Maitland Christian School on Friday 24th April at 1.25pm on the undercover sports courts at the rear of the school site. Parents are welcome to join us for this service. The service will be approximately 30 minutes in duration.
