During NAIDOC Week, our students joined schools across Australia in celebrating the rich history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year’s theme, “50 Years of Deadly,” recognises five decades of leadership, advocacy, resilience and cultural strength. In Aboriginal communities, deadly is a term of high praise, describing something or someone as outstanding, inspiring and worthy of celebration.
As a Christian school, we believe every person is created in the image of God and is deeply valued. Throughout the week, we took time to reflect, learn and give thanks for the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We were proud to celebrate our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, families and community members, and to honour the rich cultural heritage that enriches our school and wider community.
