Year 2 stepped back in time with an exciting excursion to Tocal Homestead as part of their History unit Past in the Present. Students were fully immersed in life in the 1800s as they dressed in old clothing and experienced what daily life was like for people living more than a century ago. There were plenty of laughs and surprised faces as students tried their hand at carrying buckets of water and washing laundry the old-fashioned way, by hand!
Students also enjoyed engaging walk-and-talk tours around the historic homestead, where they discovered fascinating stories about how families lived and cared for the land in the past. From exploring the grounds to experiencing historic chores, the day was filled with hands-on learning that brought history to life in a fun and memorable way. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to see how life in the past compares to the present.
